One train wreck in your life might be the other person’s fault.
Two train wrecks in your life could be the other person’s fault.
But when you experience train wrecks three, four, and five, you might need to ask yourself, “Do I bear any responsibility in what keeps happening? Is the one commonality in all these situations me?”
Jesus says, “Why do you see the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when there is the log in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye.” (Matthew 7:3-5)
The God we know in Jesus deals graciously with sinners who, by God’s Word and the Holy Spirit, recognize their sin. God gives them repentance and saving faith in Christ.
So quit pointing and receive the gifts of repentance, faith, and new life in Jesus, no matter how many times you’ve helped engineer your life’s train wrecks.
