Despite what I say in the introduction, this episode covers Mark 2:23-3:35.
The primary commentary for this episode is The Interpretation of St. Mark’s Gospel by R.C.H. Lenski.
Here is an article on Showbread or the Bread of the Presence mentioned in Jesus’ reference to 1 Samuel 21.
This is an article about the Greek mathematician, astronomer, and music theorist Ptolemy, who shared the same first name as the father of Bartholomew, the apostle. The apostle’s name means Son of Ptolomy. It points out that Bartholomew and Philip, whose name in Greek means Lover of horses, with their Greek names, were part of the Greek-speaking Jewish community. Of course, the first Christian martyr would be a Greek-speaking Jew named Stephen.
This is an article I wrote on Substack that deals with “the sin against the Holy Spirit” that Jesus talks about in Mark 3:28-30.
