Substacks I Enjoy
Every month I intend to share four or five Substacks I enjoy. Here's the list for February.
Every day, I’m discovering new writers and artists on Substack. Here are a few I would like to recommend to you.
Jesus Christ is Alive from Pastor Volker Heide is just such a refreshing place to go. Pastor Heide presents his sermons on his page and they’re accessible, truthful, and sometimes even funny.
The Big No by Annie Gottlieb. Annie and I probably don’t agree on a lot. But for more than twenty years, I’ve found her to be honest, deeply intelligent and insightful, and encouraging. I respect her deeply. Sometimes angry and raw, Annie writes brilliantly too.
FactsHQ from Lisa Remillard. With 114,000 subscribers on Substack and I don’t know how many over on Tik Tok, Lisa Remillard doesn’t need my recommendation. But if you’re looking for a fair news site that presents you with lots of background, both in her fantastic videos and in the links she provides, that’s what Lisa creates.
Philip’s Substack by Pastor Philip Daniels. Yes, this site is from my son, a Lutheran pastor in Texas. But, believe me, if you want to think deeply and thoroughly, his site may well be your cup of tea. Philip is, if I may say so, brilliant. His undergraduate degrees are History and Philosophy. He also has a Master of Divinity. Check him out.
Next month, per the advice of @susiebright, who I heard being interviewed by @sarahfaywritersatwork, I’ll have more recommendations.
🙏 Sincerely meant in both senses of the emoji.
Thanks for the recommendation! Much appreciated. God bless you, my friend!
